Western Plains District Volunteer Staff Application

Counselors in training, please fill out CIT application.

Prior to completing this staff registration form, you will need the following:

  1. Permission from the director(s) to serve on staff for the camp session(s) you have chosen (Check the camp websites for director name and email address)
  2. Health insurance card to upload (front and back – a picture is fine)
  3. Driver’s license to upload (a picture is fine)
  4. Completed health form (available here) to upload (or you may send by mail to the director if you prefer no later than 2 weeks prior to start of camp)
  5. Confirm with the district office that you have 3 current reference forms on file (620-241-4240; office@wpcob.org). Reference forms are good for 10 years. If you do not have current forms on file, you may give this link to your references, which, when completed, will be automatically submitted to the district office.
  6. Confirm with the district office (620-241-4240; office@wpcob.org)  that you have a current district background check on file. Background Check Release Form found here.For the current camping season, only those background checks done after July 1 five years previous are considered current (ex: for 2023 camping season, checks done after July 1, 2018 are current). Background check release forms can be found on the camps’ websites: www.campcolorado.org and www.campmounthermon.orgThe form must be mailed to the district office: Western Plains District, PO Box 394, McPherson, KS 67460.
  7. CPR/First Aid training is preferred, but not required. If you do have this training, please have your current certificate available to upload with your applicationPersons who are serving on staff at Camp Colorado will need additional background checks and fingerprinting performed per Colorado state childcare regulations. Those staff will be contacted by Camp Colorado personnel with further instructions.

Camp Colorado staff will need to complete the Standard Precautions Training (more info available here) and have your completion certificate available to upload. This training is required each year.
