February 21-24, 2016
Heartland Center for Spirituality, Dominican Convent, Great Bend, Kan.

RSVP by Monday, February 8

(See registration information below.)

Arrive as early as Sunday supper at 5:45pm and stay as late as Wednesday afternoon to take advantage of the opportunity for refreshing personal time in addition to stimulating and inspiring training sessions (see below).

All costs, including lodging and meals, are underwritten by district funds as a part of our transformation initiative. Transportation is the only cost to Western Plains participants. These events are planned for all pastors and all congregational and district leaders to provide transformational training as well as fellowship and other spiritual growth opportunities.

Focus for our time together

Difference and disagreement are normal and inevitable. However, many of us feel ill prepared to handle conflict within our faith communities. We will examine how to transform conflict into spiritual and community renewal, focusing on:

  • Biblical and theological principles
  • Congregations as family systems
  • Levels of conflict within faith communities
  • Structured dialogue in high-anxiety situations
  • Assessment tools
  • Reconciliation

Gary Flory and Robert Yutzy from the Kansas Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (KIPCOR), Bethel College, Newton, Kan., will be our resource people, bringing decades of experience both as educators and practitioners in this area.

Training begins after lunch on Monday, February 22

The final training session concludes at noon on Wednesday, February 24

Please RSVP by Mon, Feb. 8 by notifying Kendra Flory at the District Office (wpdcb@sbcglobal.net or 620-241-4240) that you plan to attend and include the following information:

1) when you plan to arrive and depart at Heartland Center
