Julie Liggett (75) died on Friday, November 28 of complications from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). The memorial service was held December 16 at Eastlake (Colo.) First Congregational Church.

This Advent season, as all of them I have been alive to see, speaks to us so powerfully of the coming of Light into darkness.

John “Marty” Moyer was installed as pastor of the Garden City (Kan.) Church of the Brethren on November 16. Without all of the over-the-top lights displays, newspapers filled with advertising circulars, and the bombardment of “consume-here” messages that now dominates much of our Decembers (and increasingly, even more of our Novembers!), the Christmas-time is intended as a very reflective season.  We are invited to remember what God has done.
