    The District Conference Planning Team and The Gathering Planning Team are searching for a person(s) to oversee the registration process for these events. The registrar is a key position, which helps these events run smoothly.   • Resources for congregational vitality

    The Western Plains District Transformation Training Team is continuing its work of providing guidance and resources for congregational renewal to the congregations of our district. This past year, a large number of our congregations participated in KonXion (“Connection”). There was mutual encouragement for these congregations in taking the opportunity to celebrate their stories and their life together with friends from a sister congregation. Good things are happening, and we learned through our mutual sharing that there is great reason for hope as God is visibly present and at work in rich and vital ways in the life of our congregations.   • Travel to the horn of Africa

    You are invited to join Drs. Herb and Jeanne Smith on their annual trip to the New Jerusalem of Africa, Lalibela, Ethiopia. Visit eleven rock-hewn churches carved into the earth, worship in a cave monastery with monks and priests, converse with the Orthodox Patriarch in his mansion, assemble PET wheelchairs for victims of polio, deliver school supplies, enjoy the largest outdoor market in Africa.   • Newsletter Correction

    In the District Conference Wrap Up posted September 30 and included in the October Shepherd’s Voice, the total attendance of the conference was incorrectly reported. The total attendance was 187, which has been corrected in the article.

  • Service project to take place in Puerto Rico

    Have you ever dreamed of spending some of these cold winter weeks in shorts sleeves, getting a sun tan, and pulling fresh bananas from the plant? NOW is your chance! And make it even more exciting by doing service work at the same time!

    The District Disaster Team has endorsed a work project in Castañer, Puerto Rico from January 2-20, 2015. You are invited to join the trip for whatever length of time works best for you. (more…)

    Mt. Hermon Celebrates 70 Years

    Here is a big hello from Camp Mt Hermon campers, who attended Family Camp held Sept. 26-28. It was an awesome weekend with as many as 80 plus visitors and campers at any given time. Leslie Kendall, of Topeka, jump started the on line registration for the 70th Anniversary of Camp Mt Hermon. Seventy-four campers preregistered and more came to the special dedication of the new pavilion and 70th celebration.
